Back in NZ!

The DTS and outreach have come to an end, and a great end at that. Last week was such a great week of reflection, looking back at what God has done in everyones lives, giving him back all the praise and glory!

A time of rest and contemplation begins for myself after a full on 5 months. Things are pretty quiet around here at the moment. So I'm enjoying some late morning starts, fresh afternoon walks into the valley, learning how to start a fire and keep it going (think I've mastered it!)

Psalm 46:10 is on my mind a lot,

       Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth

...and why does it seem so hard to 'be still' not to rush on to the next thing or expect everything to be there in an instant...but to simply trust in the character of God, let that all surpassing peace that has been promised reign over all areas of life...having faith that is not tossed around in the waves of doubt and double minded-ness!

Isaiah 43:19

See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the desert
       and streams in the wasteland

Gods up to something new...

Fiji here I come!

So here I go again, in just over 24 hours i'll be up up and away! This time the destination is Fiji.

'Lecture phase' has come to an end, 12 weeks of being taught, challenged, stretched and finding freedom. And it was all this for me too, not just the 18 students that we had!

I will be leading the team to Fiji, I have a great team and we are all ready to hear from God as to the exact day to day planning of our outreach. We will be running an optometry clinic in the village that we first stay and a mini discipleship school for the youth from one of the local churches. I'm really excited for what God will do through us! We have 5 weeks total in Fiji and the last couple of weeks are largely unplanned at the moment, and then we will head back to Christchurch in NZ to carry on our outreach and make and impact on this city!

Thank you for you prayers it means so much that people are praying and upholding myself and the team as we venture out. Internet will be limited whilst i'm away but watch this space for upcoming news!

Treasure Hunting

So today we had an all DTS treasure hunt! Arranged by one of the many super mums, Susie,  that we have living with us at the moment. We split into outreach teams, so the 7 of us heading to Fiji made a mad dash for finding the end prize of our clues. Some of which were pretty cryptic and took some thinking about. Much to our credit we managed somehow to find most of our clues in the backwards order! A very unusual way of 'playing the game' but we put it down just to the amount of skill we had! Much fun was had and we learnt some good stuff about how we work together as a team, the value of hearing each persons opinion and generally seeing that we can work together and that we had some fun and laughs along the way. I'm excited to go to Fiji with these guys!!

As for treasure hunts, the hunt for the truths in Gods word continues. A great week was had by all digging into the Bible after our DTS leader was teaching on 'the Word of the Lord' and the last couple of days talking about End times. Such a lot to contemplate and think upon!

Please pray...

Wisdom, insight and understanding for the staff as we lead and disciple these young men and women

Praise God for the provision and miracles needed for the Pacific Link and its crew to set sail on their one way trip to Australia and Papua New Guinea!

Gods continued guidance for outreach in 2 months time, contacts, ministry opportunities and funds for our flights. I will be leading a team to Fiji and then back to New Zealand, and the other teams will be going to Japan, Philippines and Thailand.

Open hearts for everyone as we 'go deep' on this school.

Protection and provision for the completion of the new ministry centre.

Thank you for your prayers, feel free to email or leave a comment if you feel Gods putting something specific on your heart!

Thoughts of Late

This song has been going around and around in my head after hearing it at the YWAM 50th Jubilee celebrations here in NZ!

This is a real exciting time having moved off the ship and into our temporary centre before the new ministry centre is completed. We are the first of the Marine Reach schools to be run from this locations, such a special and pioneering journey we are on! We have had many teething problems but also amazing times of seeing Gods faithfulness once again! We have some super awesome people around with great giftings!

I have settled into my new room now, it's nice to have more space than the ship, although I seem lost at times, as there is not so many people around. I have a lovely walk in the mornings up to the centre where we have lectures. Earlier I felt I would take a little detour past the avocado trees and there on the ground was a perfectly ripe one just sitting there ready for me to pick up. I feel so blessed to be in this beautiful part of this country, and part of this exciting phase for the ministry as a whole!

Today we spent a great day in Rotorua, walking the local markets, geo thermal pools, views from the gondola and thrilling ride of the luge (so much fun!!) for some bungy jumping and a wonderful picnic by the lake.

We have had a great start to the school with a week of teaching on missions and the father heart of God and we are about to go into a new week of intercession and hearing Gods voice. Its great to see the work God has already begun in the students lives and what He still has in store for them!

Departures And Arrivals

Just over a week ago my delayed flight touched down in Auckland, two days after my initial arrival date. After having my first flight cancelled and re arranged due to the snowy conditions in the UK.

I had a 7 hour lay over in Los Angles, where I was totally blessed to spend some time with a good friend whom i'd worked with before. We went to the beach and pier in Santa Monica and had the famous californian 'In and out' burger!

Arriving into sunny Tauranga greeted by some old friends and soon to be new ones, I felt right at home. Back on board the m/v Pacific Link my bunk was awaiting me and the unpacking began!

This school, we are just spending 2 weeks on board the ship before itself leaves for a tour of australia! (check out www.ywamships.org) All the DTS will then be packing up and moving to Gideons Heights, (www.gideonsheights.co.nz the new training centre will not be completed yet, but we will be in a older facility there. Its exciting that this school gets to be a part of this pioneering faith venture for the building of the ministry centre, that has been 20 years in the pipeline. Its so great to see Gods faithfulness in fulfilling His promises!

As we are about to enter the first week of lectures, I'm excited to see what God has in store for the 18 students from 10 different nations. We have had a time of sharing personal testimonies and life stories, which opened the way for God beginning to work powerfully in these young lives and bring them into a place of greater freedom. What a privileged position I am in to see this unfold!

A HUGE thank you to all that made it possible for me to get here, the adventure is just beginning!
